Ira Heimowitz is the founder of NJ Voice Acting, LLC, an emerging voice actor based in New Jersey with roots in the vibrant energy of New York. He’s a professionally trained talent, equipped with a fully functional home studio, and proud to bring an authentic NYC voice over talent to narrations, documentaries, and commercial projects. His path into voiceover wasn’t conventional, but it was always driven by passion. After earning a B.A. in Broadcasting and Mass Communications from SUNY Oswego, Ira initially set his sights on radio. But starting out in New York City (a city known for its competitive media market) it proved daunting for a beginner. Instead, he explored other creative avenues, landing small roles in shows like FBI: Most Wanted, The Missing, and Law and Order.
From NYC and TV Appearances to Voice Acting
Even while chasing acting gigs, Ira knew voiceover was calling. But in the early days, he lacked the know-how, support, and resources to break in. Years later, as the voiceover industry went digital, Ira made his move. He trained with professionals, produced top-tier demos, and put his SAG-AFTRA membership (since 2002) to work. Today, Ira records from his pro-grade home studio and brings every script to life with an authentic tone, strong regional identity, and a voice that’s been described as energetic, relatable, and honest. He’s proud to be entering the industry as a performer with a disability, and even prouder to show that disability can be a strength.

What makes Ira stand out? He’s a fresh voice! Literally and figuratively. Not only does he offer a unique vocal print, but he also brings a deep understanding of communication thanks to his graduate education (Master of Public Administration and Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall). He’s also someone who knows how to work hard. Outside of voice acting, Ira serves as a direct support professional in the nonprofit world. He’s no stranger to resilience, and his determination shows up in every read.
